The Seattle Times published the last of a four-part series titled "Victory and Ruins" yesterday about the apparently corrupt 2000 Husky football team -- the last Husky team to win a Rose Bowl.
The series exhibits phenomenal investigative reporting, and villianizes former players Jerramy Stevens (also a former Seahawk), Jeremiah Pharms, and Curtis Williams, as well as former UW coach and current USC coach Rick Neuheisel and former UW athletic director Barbara Hedges.
Players are accused of violent crimes and coaches are accused of cover-ups. The Seattle Times has received criticism for reporting the story eight years too late and (coincidentally?) publishing the series at the same time the UW is seeking a major renovation of Husky Stadium.
The series in its entirety is a long read, but one I recommend. The value is in learning about the money driven-scandals that continue to poison collegiate sports. Read the series here.
